MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCACY FORUM

A Community education event about mental health

SATURDAY, MAY 21 / 2:00 to 4:00 / Hopkins Junior High / 600 Driscoll Rd, Fremont, CA 

This Mental Health Advocacy event will feature

Information for friends and family member advocates of those with mental health needs, mental health practitioners, and the wider community in the Bay Area interested in learning more about mental health issues, policies and resources

A panel discussion of current mental health issues and advocacy needs, with representatives from the National Alliance on Mental Illness-Alameda County, consumer groups, the Family Education and Resource Center, the faith community, Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services and the police.

Breakout booths with information and resources about many community mental health programs.

NAMI Alameda County is offering 

NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group  Programs

They are being held at the following locations:

Oakland:  Telecare Heritage, Begins May 14th  2633 E. 27th St,   11 am to 12:30 pm, 2nd and 4th Saturdays

Union City:  Holly Center, Begins June 14th, 31600 Alvarado Blvd.,  6:30 to 8 pm, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays

What is the NAMI Connection Recovery Support Group Program?

NAMI Connection is a recovery support group program that offers respect, understanding, encouragement and hope. NAMI Connection groups are:

Free and confidential
Held twice a month for 90 minutes 
Designed to connect, encourage, and support participants using a structured support group model
Led by trained facilitators living in recovery themselves

Our mission is to eradicate stigma, advocate for treatment and recovery, and build community accountability for people whose lives are impacted by the devastating effects of mental illness. We respect cultural, ethnic, religious, and sexual diversity while supporting lifelong dignity and the wellness and recovery of individuals with lived experience, their allies and families.

NAMI Alameda County is affiliated with NAMI California and NAMI National.
